This weekend I moved blog and all emails related to custom domains to European providers. I do not regret moving away from Google as a email service, but I liked DigitalOcean, I was with them for many years, yet decided it will be my symbolic protest against US politics and tech companies. Now for emails I use Tuta and for servers UpCloud .
UpCloud has really nice UI, I think maybe even better than DigitalOcean. Pricing is okay, I guess comparable do DO. They lack some services, DNS server for example, but you can live without it.
Tuta also has some nice features, it is also a paid service, not free like Gmail, but I prefer it that way. It is more secure, partially because of that they do not support IMAP and POP protocols, so you won't be able to configure emails on custom client, like for example MacOs email app. However, they have mobile and desktop applications, so it's not some tragedy either.
